Designing My Blog with Google Blogger

I have been a big fan of Google blogger using it for my blogging for years.  Over the years, I noticed that visitors may stay or leave in a matter of seconds. A suitable layout is just as important as written content which only plays a subordinate role in the first impression. Here the structure and the design have a powerful impact.  It is an important factor like the quality of the content in deciding whether a reader stays on returning to our blogs again. A well-designed blog with rich content inspires trust in our visitors, and we can use them to establish our brand and increase sales.

Blogger has many themes for different subjects, e.g., Travel, Magazine, Food, Simple, Awesome, etc.   I use Awesome Inc Dark. Black is the background with white text. In this way, my eyes feel more relaxed and much better as I spend long hours working on my computer doing writing and editing.  At the top, my blog name and then the brief description comprised of keywords related to the subject.  As we browse from the top, the posts with their respective titles are down. Our eyes browse from top downwards and from left to right.  The search engine spiders are so intelligent, and they similarly browse our blog.  Therefore we likewise scattered essential keywords on the page.

Google Blogger is free, and it works very well.

Template Options:

1. Free Temples with Layouts

Blogger offers plenty of design templates called free themes. They are simple to download and easy to install with just the click of the mouse.

2. Flexibility to Customize the template

If we are familiar with web design, we could customize the layout to adapt it to our purposes.

3. Plenty of gadgets(plugins) such as Google Adsense, header, footer, popular posts, featured post, about, label, HTML edit, videos and image add-on, etc.

4. Images and videos can be imported directly from Youtube and your computer.

5. Posting to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, emails is easy and fun at the click of the mouse.

Tips for Design:

1. Match Design Elements to our Subject Matter

The layout of our blog's theme should also fit our subject to our choice of colors, fonts, and other individual elements. Don’t be misled by graphical gimmicks. Think carefully about how our layout will suit the content.

2. Keep It Simple

Our selected layout template should have no technical defects code. Loading times are critical. This is increasingly important for search engines and users, who will leave a site quickly if these are too long. A simple layout is likely to load quicker.

3. The Usability

In addition to visual design elements, usability plays a vital role in blog design. In general, we should keep it simple and straightforward.  Another point to watch out for is the expandability of the blog for future growth.  If our blog’s purpose is to earn money, then make sure that none of the layout’s elements get in the way of this goal, ensuring our sidebar is wide enough to integrate banners; leave enough space for a flag in the header.

In addition, the content area should be clearly and readily visible, not only better for the user but also allow for a better presentation of Affiliate Links and other monetized content.

Ask ourself:

Is the navigation on the blog user-friendly?

How easy is it to find important content?

Are there too many or too few choices?

Are there any confusing elements?

Ask a question at my Quora Space?

Conclusion:

Remember that the layout we choose doesn’t need to be perfect. It’s preferable to get started with a simple form and gradually optimize our blog design. Don’t waste valuable time tinkering with minor layout details when our blog could already be online.
