It was freezing cold this morning, with a temperature feeling like - 10C. Julie and I took the morning walk in the neighborhood. We walked on the slippery icy walkway, but we felt alright and secured with our snow boots on. We are used to this type of weather and know how we should find ourselves in the bitterly cold winter of Canada.
What kind of shoes are best for snow and ice?
If there's ice, you'll generally encounter snowy and wet conditions, so you'll want a shoe that's waterproof or at least water-resistant to help your feet stay warm and dry. Shoes made of Gore-Tex, neoprene, leather, PU, PVC, or rubber offer the best protection against water.
How can we prevent slip and falling on ice?
- Prevent Winter Injury: Falling or Slipping
- Wear appropriate footwear. Shoes that provide traction on snow or ice are essential.
- Keep your hands free.
- Take smaller, shorter steps when walking for stability
- Use handrails if available
- Step down, not out, from your vehicle
